Milford Marina will play host to international powerboat championship contenders Daisy Coleman and her brother Sam Coleman when they visit Milford Marina in their powerboat this weekend to mark the marina’s 25th Anniversary.

The two offshore powerboat racers, who are currently competing in the Powerboat P1 Superstock Championship series which takes place between May and October this year over a total of 11 weekends in areas around Florida in the US and various parts of the UK, are taking time from their busy schedule to visit Milford Marina, which is close to their home town of Saundersfoot.

The brother and sister duo have been making waves across the powerboat industry. Neither come from a boating background, and Daisy, who co-pilots for the races, had never stepped foot inside a powerboat until four years ago when she was discharged from the Royal Artillery on medical grounds. Fast forward four years and they are now winning trophies on a world platform, their most recent success being last weekend in Gosport at the English Grand Prix of the Sea when they finished 2nd overall and extended their championship lead to 25 points. Their next event will take place over 28/29th August racing in the Welsh Grand Prix of the Sea at Cardiff Bay. You can follow their progress on facebook.com/racingcoleman.

Commenting on the visit Daisy Coleman said, “We’re delighted to be invited to this event to celebrate Milford Marina’s 25th Anniversary. There’s no better way to explore the UK’s largest coastal national park than by boat and Milford Marina has provided us with a fantastic base for launching and testing our race boat. We look forward to visiting this fantastic marine destination in the future.”

Neil Jenkins, Destination Director for the Port of Milford Haven and whose job it is to deliver plans which are set to transform Milford Marina into a unique waterfront destination, said, “We’re delighted that Daisy and Sam have visited Milford Marina as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary through the month of July. Our #milfordmarina25 campaign on social media is celebrating 25 reasons to visit Milford Marina this month, and we look forward to featuring a wide selection of businesses and attractions at this already vibrant destination.”

The 28 foot long powerboat will be on Mackerel Quay from 2pm until 3.30pm if visitors would like to take a look at the vessel and have a chat to the team.
