Congratulations to the winner of our final Photo of the Month competition of 2020, Beverley Thomas, with her stunning photograph titled “A Warming Glow”.
Beverley was driving back from Haverfordwest and although it started getting dark, the sky was lit up in a way that she had never seen before. She was intrigued as to the reason why, grabbed her camera and headed towards the light source.
Beverley knew that The Rath would be the best viewing point to capture this unusual glow, and having worked on cruise ships many years ago, she could also incorporate her love of the sea in one picture.
The inspiration for Beverley’s photograph comes from her love of night photography. By combining the reflections on the water along with the place that her father worked for so many years before retiring, this enabled Beverley to capture the beauty of the artificial light at night in a dramatic composition.
“A Warming Glow” was chosen as the title simply because the flame that was visible made Beverley reflect on 2020. The pandemic had set fire to many plans and yet there was still a feeling of a warm glow of hope heading into 2021.
Leaving 2020 with a bang, Beverley’s photograph attracted a whopping 237 votes, congratulations Beverley!
Every month we encourage our berth holders, visitors and photographers of all standards to enter their photographs into our Photo of the Month competition. Entries should have a focus on the spirit of the Milford Haven Waterway, including the scenery, wildlife, coastline and sunsets, the boating community, and Milford Marina itself.
