Milford Marina continues to be a hive of activity this summer as an exciting programme of events takes place over the coming months.

Following the success of Milford Fish Festival in June, the marina is becoming a sought after location to stage everything from awards ceremonies to cruise calls.

In July, the marina hosted the 102.5 Radio Pembrokeshire Business Awards, sponsored by the Port of Milford Haven. This event was held on Mackerel Quay and aimed to recognise and reward business individuals and companies who play a vital role in creating an impact in the county’s economy. 240 guests enjoyed the awards and entertainment from the Garnett Family who starred in Britain’s Got Talent.

Milford Haven Round Table also arranged their first Beer and Cider Festival at the venue, and welcomed some 300 visitors through the day. As well as raising funds for good causes in the town, guests enjoyed live entertainment and the chance to sample beers and ciders from across the county, as well as the popular prosecco and cocktail bar.

On 3rd August there will be two outdoor performances on Mackerel Quay of ‘Block’, an exciting collaboration between Nofitstate Circus and Motionhouse, at 4.30pm and 7.15pm, followed by the Sunset Cinema screenings of ‘The Goonies’ on 7th August, and ‘Top Gun’ on 10th August. Tickets for these three events are available from www.torchtheatre.co.uk or at the box office.

During the school holidays, Healthaspire will be running a Summer Cookery School for children, sponsored by Milford Fish Docks. Participants will learn about the importance of healthy eating and how to cook with fish. Healthaspire is also organising a sponsored walk in aid of Paul Sartori on 11th September. To find out more about the cookery school or the sponsored walk, please call 01646 278216.

For the second year running, the Port of Milford Haven has teamed up with Milford Youth Matters, the VC Gallery and Arts Care Gofal Celf to stage the ‘Under the Bridge’ project on Friday nights during the school holidays. The initiative takes place under Hakin Bridge between 6.30-8.30pm and offers free urban arts, music and dance activities to 11-18 year olds.

Cruise ships are another popular attraction for the marina. On 17th August the Port will host a visit from the cruise vessel Seabourn Quest, followed by Albatross on 15th September.

Lucy James, Marketing Manager at the Port of Milford Haven, commented, “There is something for everyone at Milford Marina, whether you’re visiting one of the wide selection of independent businesses, or attending an event, we hope that you enjoy your experience. Hosting such a diverse range of activities is an important element of the growth of Milford Marina as a destination, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming many visitors this summer.”
