We're delighted to announce Carol Best as our March Photo of the Month winner, with her stunning photo titled "Seaweed Hut Freshwater West", congratulations Carol!

Each month we encourage berth holders, visitors and photographers of any standard to enter their pictures into our Photo of the Month competition. Entries should have a focus on capturing the spirit of the Milford Haven Waterway, including the boating community, scenery, wildlife, coastline and sunsets, and Milford Marina itself.

Wanting to find out more behind her winning shot, we caught up with Carol, who revealed that Freshwater West holds a special place in her heart. "Freshwater West is such a fabulous beach," she shared, adding that it has served as a backdrop for various popular films over the years.

Carol also shared with us that Freshwater West isn't just a picturesque location; it's steeped in history too. Once a prime spot for gathering seaweed from the intertidal rock formations, local women would collect this bounty and dry it in huts, utilising it to craft Laverbread. Remarkably, the thatched seaweed hut featured in Carol's photo is the last of its kind in Pembrokeshire, rebuilt by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park in 2000 as a tribute to this rich tradition.

As we embrace the arrival of April, our latest competition is now open for submissions, and we can’t wait to see all your captivating spring-themed photographs.

For your chance to win a voucher to spend at any Milford Waterfront business, all you have to do is simply upload your photo from your computer, mobile or straight from your Instagram account to our website.

Good luck everyone!
