Congratulations to our August Photo of the Month winner, Davey Barrett, with his fantastic image, “St Ann's sunset”.
We asked Davey about the inspiration behind his winning photo, and he explained that it was simply a case of being in the right place at the right time.
One evening, Davey was flying his drone off St Ann’s Head, hoping to capture the sun setting behind the islands of Skomer and Skokholm. While taking in the views from above, he managed to capture the lighthouse in one of his photographs.
What started as a lucky shot turned into something particularly special. The setting sun reflected through the lighthouse lens at just the right moment, creating a striking detail that made the image stand out.
With the lighthouse, surrounding coastline and warm evening light coming together beautifully, Davey’s photograph captures a memorable Pembrokeshire sunset and proves that sometimes the best shots are the ones you don’t plan for.
Each month we encourage berth holders, visitors and photographers of all abilities to enter their pictures into our Photo of the Month competition. Entries should have a focus on capturing the spirit of the Milford Haven Waterway, including the boating community, scenery, wildlife, coastline and sunsets, and Milford Marina itself.
