The winner of our May Photo of the Month competition is Carol Best with her photo titled “Geriatric Puffin Skomer Island”, congratulations Carol – our winner two months in a row!
Carol took her winning photo when she was at The Wick on Skomer Island and she wondered how old the puffin was, as Atlantic Puffins can live for up to 30 years of age with the eldest recorded at 40 years!
Did you know that puffins live their first 3 years of life completely at sea and they only return to land for breeding and nesting, for a short period of time. It’s important to protect our marine wildlife and the Pembrokeshire Marine Code was created to do just that, by following the Codes of Conduct you can help preserve the safety of our wonderful wildlife.
Every month we encourage berth holders, visitors and photographers of all abilities to enter their pictures into our Photo of the Month competition, with entries capturing the spirit of the Milford Haven Waterway, including the scenery, wildlife, coastline and sunsets, the boating community, and Milford Marina itself.
