Photo of the Month – November 2022

The winner of our November Photo of the Month competition is Carol Best with her photo titled “Lest we forget”, congratulations Carol!

Carol was on her way to work on a November morning when she captured her winning shot, and whilst walking past the Milford Haven War Memorial, she was reminded of the large part Milford Haven played during World War I and World War II.

Carol volunteers at Milford Haven Museum and loves local history and discovering new information! Carol shared with us that the original design of the memorial planned to have an angel on top of the monument, with a soldier and sailor.

As there were local airmen who had sadly lost their lives in the war, it was then decided to replace the angel on the top of the monument with an airman.

The base structure of the monument was also fashioned by local craftsman using stone presented by J C Ward who was the Manager of the Docks Company and Managing Director of the Milford Trawling Company.

Every month we encourage berth holders, visitors and photographers of all abilities to enter their pictures into our Photo of the Month competition, with entries capturing the spirit of the Milford Haven Waterway, including the scenery, wildlife, coastline and sunsets, the boating community, and Milford Marina itself.

With 2023 just around the corner, we’d love to see the photos that you’ve taken throughout 2022, whether it’s a reminiscent summer shot or a photo of the winter waves, we can’t wait to see them all!

Our last competition of 2022 is well underway and we’ve already had some brilliant entries!
